IMPORTANT NOTE FOR THE NEW YEAR: On January 1, 2025 our office will begin administering the 2024 version of the International Code Council (ICC) codes and the 2023 National Electric Code (NEC).
The City of Knoxville requires anyone who applies for a permit to be associated with a registration based on their qualifications. Different types of work will require particular registration types, occasionally in conjunction with a State of Tennessee license.
As of 2022, the City of Knoxville does not require a bond for subcontractor licenses. If you reciprocate a State of Tennessee license, you should follow the State of Tennessee's guidelines. If you have any questions regarding the State of Tennessee bond requirements, please contact them.
Please select a license registration type below to learn more about its applicability, application requirements, and how to apply for licensure with the Plans Review & Inspections Office.
